DC Trip and Memorial Day
Some of the cool things that happened in late May
Washington DC trip
Meghan's eighth-grade class went to Washington DC and Gettysburg, probably somehow managing to learn a thing or two (smart money is on "a thing" rather than "or two") about history while having a lot of fun.
Needless to say, the kids represented themselves, their school, their town, and their generation as a whole just splendidly!

Genesee Country Museum
Emily's fourth grade class traveled to the Genesee Country Museum, to learn how people lived 250 years ago. Although they probably stopped listening, once the shock of "no Game Boys" and "no Tamagotchis" set in.
The schoolhouse room, awash in light...
Don't they look thrilled to have absorbed so much history?
Red Wing Night
Every Memorial Day weekend, Fairport Little League gets to go see a Rochester Red Wings game at a cheap price and parade around the field. Lots of fun!

Memorial Day Parade
Our hometown Memorial Day parade is great! Katie and Emily walked in it with their Girl Scout troop. Dave and Mike walked in it with their Cub Scout Pack. Meghan, too cool for it all, slept at a friend's house and missed the parade for something like the fifth year in a row.
One parade, two groups:
Katie and her Girl Scouts, above, led by Emily and the flag she appropriated from the girl who brought it; Dave and Mike and the Cub Scouts below, with Dave telling them for the thousandth time to "please move the banner toward the middle of the street."
